I'm thinking about getting the LG DoublePlay

In this day an age there is almost no time that I am without my phone. I use it for everything! I write my grocery list on it,keep track of my spending and of course I used it to take almost all of the photos on my facebook page. I was satisfied with my phone until my battery started to die out of nowhere and now I am in the market for something new and better. That is how I found the LG DoublePlay™ an Android based phone only available through Tmobile, who just so happens to be my provider of choice. The DoublePlay is better then my phone in the following ways:

1. It has a LED Flash! My phone has no flash at all and to top it off the camera is 5 megapixel and the video camera records in 720p HD! I have never shot in HD before so what better time then the holidays to start?

2. DoublePlay has two sweet screens that work together at the same time! One larger touch screen that is the front side of the phone and one beneath that live between the split full qwerty keyboard. That means you can two things at once like surf the web and text your friends at the same time without closing either.

3. Could texting would bring me to a new level of communication! I would be able to text from my Ipad without having to hunt down my phone when I hear my message tone. And it would be pretty helpful to be able to access my texts even if I let a long talker use my phone for a "minute"

I just left the preview party for the opening of Spring Shoes in Herald Square. The official hashtag was/is #callitspring. What a sweet event! There was free snacks, drinks and last but certainly not least shoes! Spring shoes was kind enough to give attendees a shoe stipend for the evening! I however decided I would spend mine later when its not so crowded. I need space and clarity to make important shoe decisons..Don't judge me! Last year I unfortunately missed out on IFB's conference and I was miffed to say the least. I am happy to say that this year I will be there front row center! Takin notes, shaking hands and passing out business cards like candy. I can't wait to meet other like minded bloggers from across the country but especially those who live in New York. I have met plenty of other bloggers since I've moved to NYC but it is rare that they focus specifically on fashion, and I could use a new friend or five to talk fashion week with all year round...If that make sense. Word around the internet is, Lady Gaga is in talks with Twinnings, an english tea company to become their new face. Can you imagine?! I mean I already like tea but I would, as I'm sure many others would also, love to pull out a lil box with her face on it at my desk each morning when I make my tea. I have been dieing to have a tea party but Lady GaGa flavors would make my tea party that much more exciting and I would then have the grounds to demand that my guests come in some kind of gaga related garb lest they be denied attendance to said tea party. Happy birthday Frida Kahlo! This braid is for you!

My mother introduced me to Frida Kahlo at a very young age, in fact I cannot remember a time when my mom wouldn't point out her paintings in public or show me her works in the books we had at our house.

You might even say she was a role model to me, a guide of what a female mexican artist should be. She was modest, modern for her time and not at all afraid of social taboos. I should like to be considered any one of those things.

But..what I really like...is that damn braid! Seriously guys, all of my life I have coveted that whole braided ribbon hairdo. I figure since it is Frida's birthday after all, today is a great day to try this hairstyle out, when I get home from work naturally.

This ribbon braid tutuorial was the closest thing I could find but I will have to try it with a braid that wraps around my head. I have been praticing my regular self braiding lately so maybe it wont be that hard..yeah right lol. anyway happy happy birthday Frida!! Beach fever: Brighton Beach Edition!

Good morning readers! I am currently experiencing something I like to call "beach fever". It basically means that I have been thinking and talking about goin to the beach all week. I have never lived near the ocean before so the idea of just goin to the beach on a whim is so novel to me. Yesterday I decided I was goin to a beach this weekend whether I had company or not. I really don't mind goin on new adventures on my own, it gives me time to think and explore without someone else's fear of "going the wrong way".
I started researching beaches I could go to using just my metro card and what I found was Brighton beach in Brooklyn. This morning I woke up an rode into the city with my dear, who had to work today (wahh), then got on the 6 to the q to Brighton beach. It took about an hour and a half, I dunno I wasn't really payin attention cause I was reading. Next thing I know I'm in a russian neighborhood following other people in swimsuits since I have no idea where I'm goin. When I got to the beach I noticed the sand was soft and the people were sparse..ish lol well compared to orchard beach in the Bronx. The water is not so bad either, I actually got in so that says something! It is beautiful here and I will definitely come back before the summer is over.
Am I the only one who likes to go on adventures alone? Lol :D

Last night I was invited to Kitty Bradshaw's 2 year blogiversary networking event,at the Apart studios in midtown Manhattan.I was a little intimidated at first because this event was poppin early on and I was rollin dolo.

I thought I wouldn't know anyone but I was definitely lookin forward to meeting some of my twitter friends person. Shout out to @templeofglam @tineey and of course the darling @fashionclimax.

One year ago the king of pop Michael Jackson passed away. I was with my aunt and my nephew when I read the news on twitter and I thought it was just a rumor, you know that twitter bullshit. After we arrived at dinner and the new was confirmed I opted out of eating for the next few days due to sadness. I felt like a big part of my childhood died when Michael left us. His inspiration in fashion was strong I almost feel like I don't even need to explain why he deserves style icon status. I mean lets face it who but MJ would have the whole world wanting to wear one shiny silver glove? Who does that! Michael did that and so much more. He made it ok for RnB singers to go rock n roll on em at any given time. So when you think about it everyone from Janet to Rhianna have him to thank for paving the way. Even after he went "bad" his style was in command of his style. How do you think he got away with dressing in rhinestone, chained faux military style for years? And he looked good as hell doing it. I've been saving a crispy white MJ shirt my mom got me last year for the right time and today seems like the best time of all to wear it in remembrance of the king himself. I miss you Michael!! Today I have been feeling very nostalgic for my southwestern home. Growing up in Arizona meant growing up with lots of tejano music even though to this day my spanish sucks. In the 90's Selena was a big deal for young girls growing up southwest and when she died everyone at my school cried the whole day. Selena died young beautiful and full of style. Her look was clean, sexy and almost effortless in its simplicity. I mean who performs these days in a white t-shirt and jeans and still looks sexy? Many of the outfits Selena wears in these videos would still work today. I'm gonna have to watch this video a few more times to try an catch all thats goin on cause everything just happened so fast. From the blurry gender roles, men in heels and gaga on top from behind, to the almost rape scene and inverted cross latex bodysuit at the end. This video is definitely going to have tongues wagging!

I loved it. I like a little controversy with my lunch and my lunch isn't here yet so this will do just fine for me. Yeah, this video is a little Madonna-ish but who cares? GaGa herself is Madonna-ish from the jump so you should expect a little homage to her in most things GaGa does. Clearly from her choice of headress which looks to be in a Spanish style circa early 1800's, Gaga embraces the past. Some fans could really use the history lesson she's been tryin to deliver to them, but that's a rant for another post. That whole latex clergy look she was doing gave me everything I need. I was even into the bondage scenes but I don't know how they will filter that for regular tv. All in all I once again applaud my darling GaGa for a job well done.

My top 5 reasons to go see John Waters speak tonight in Bryant park are in no particular order:

1. It'll probably be a hoot.

2. It's summer time in NYC and there is no where better to sit in the cool evening air than Bryant Park

3. When am I gonna get the chance to hear John Waters speak without at fee? Possibly never or next summer, but who can wait?

4. I love that moustache!

5. I watched his films when I was young and vulnerable, which in hindsight explains a few things about my sense of humor. I used to dream of having Tracy's roach dress from hairspray and I even tried to iron my hair with an iron once.

5. It's free but it says on the website something about ticket holders get preference? and that makes me wiggle my eyebrows.

4. It could be too crowded to get a seat and if I gotta sit on wet grass I'm out.

3. Theres chicken at my house that needs to be cooked, not doing so will result in a smell and loss of money. ack!

2. Probably shouldn't leave the dog unattended while I laugh the night away in midtown.

1. I am going nuts I'm so tired, that Summer Jam really takes it all out of you!

Sooooo. What will i do? I dunno yet I will decide when I get to Bryant Park after work because after all it is only a few block away from my job and if it feels good I'll do it! If pictures show up on the blog and or facebook you will know I went if not assume I turned grumpy/tired and went home.

Summer Jam is the hip hop concert to end all for 2010 and any other year for that matter. Every year summer jam is filled with rappers and controversy. For example last year Jay-z premiered " death of autotune" at summer jam an we all know what came next...T-pain went home crying and many other egos were bruised as well. Hopefully Jay-Z will stop by the Summer Jam stage this year but the real line up is as follows.

Drake - Now mind you I'm not the biggest Drake fan but this song above I do not hate.

Trey - I have been a Songz fan for the longest! I hope he does some old songs but either way I'm not hatin..I just can't help but wait..

Nicki Minaj- Ohhhh Nicki Minaj! She is probably the most hated on of all artists at summer jam. Lots of people don't like the Nickster but you know lots of people can kiss my ass. I love her!! A few years back I heard her on a track called shoppaholic with Gucci Mane and I just fell in love. Come to find out she used an Annie Lennox beat for this song?? Shut the front door!! I went wild when I first heard it in the car with my dear. Dare I say I love Ms. Minaj like I love Gaga. The costumes, the attitude and yes even the different voices that bring on the haters. I do not give a fudge. Nicki Minaj is that bitch.

Ludacris - Who doesn't like Luda?? He was even on the simpsons! So that seals it everyone loves Ludacris. If he tells me to go low, I'll probably do it. lol.

Juelz Santana - But chandra why didnt you put "beamer benz or bentley"?? Because fool thats actually Lloyd Banks. I'm all about the DIPSET DIPSET DIPSET DIPSET EEEEEEOOOOW!! Rumor has it there will be a Dipset reunion at SummerJ am and I for one will be screaming extra loud iff'n there is!

Gucci Mane - lemme guess you got something to say about Gucci mane too?? lol You're gonna have to get over it cause Gucci Mane is fun and fresh out of prison. So ethier start yelling adlibs or have a seat. S'GUCCI! BURRR! LEMAAAAAAN!

Talib Kweli and Hi Tek - To be honest I feel like they're a little out of place with all the new talent but I'm with it.

DJ Khalid - I wonder how this guy got on the bill by himself. I actually kinda hate this song except for Luda's part but I gotta give it up for Mr. We Da Besssssss, After all I am da bess myself and I can often be found winning so I can relate.

Usher - Let's be real I could've put a million different songs here because Usher has had that many hits. And they're all good but its songs like this that are gonna make me hug my dear tight even though its going to be extra humid tomorrow at the Meadowlands Stadium.

Don't be misled by the title of this post. On May 1st I certainly did protest and I definitely was front row center to some of the action. I just uh..couldnt find parking and the first march left without us! LOL Terrible right? God I know! and yet so chandra...

The good news is there was still a rally in process when we finally arrived. I met up with my little darling Leonor with my dear in tow.

I made a protest sign for my dear that said " Up with skirts down with SB1070" It was semi inspired by the Simpsons. Kudos to those who caught that if any. ღ♥ღ

We walked around Union Square, I posed for pics. I couldn't be happier that my sign was such a crowd pleaser like last years march. Some had said my "your mom is an immigrant" sign wouldn't be understood or well received but I couldn't listen to that kind of noise. Never have. Never will. Not only did people get it. It got me interviewed by the new york post. That's right y'all yours truly was in the post the very next day, the only bummer is they spelled my name wrong! I have been Shandra my whole life so its really not a huge deal to me I am just thrilled to be quoted!

Even the youth came out to protest the injustice of SB 1070!

After awhile we decided to find a bathroom and have a snack before the next march was going to leave at 4. Would you believe after being refreshed by sweet air conditioning and pizza we missed the march at 4 too? LOL ughh yeah. again it is so bad and yet so chandra...

We decided to hang out in Union Square for a minute while Leo finished her ice cream and then I noticed something that just wasnt right. I saw a group of people standing on the median sidewalk with signs, i really though I was trippin when I saw Pro-Arizona signs and even worse other brown people standing with mostly tea-party-esque group. So I says to myself and my dears, "Oh hells no they think they can show up after everyone has left an expect no opposition?! Let's go over there!" Of course my dears agreed with me and we went to the edge of our side of the street. I couldn't help myself I just started booing and waving my sign around while they stared blankly. Finally one guy flashed me a peace sign and that really set it off. I commenced to yelling and then Leo got to yelling and eventually more people started to gather. Eventually we would have the backup of a crowd of supporters at least 50 deep chanting an yelling in a big brown mass of expression. 50 is nothing compared to what was there before the second march left but still I was proud that all the people needed was a spark to reignite the flame of protest. I chanted until my voice got raspy and I even told this one lady that Michael Jackson would hate her. lol well! it was her fault for wearing an MJ shirt and then tryin to supress human rights at the same time plus she flipped me off. She had it comin... We had to leave before our little rally disbanded because of parking but my dear Leonor stayed to fight the good fight. I left my sign with some guy who was also from AZ and my dears sign was also left in the crowd. Hopefully our signs are still out there mincing about in the hands of new people enjoying new life.

Unforunately I didn't get too many pictures of this time because I was so involved but after some research I found video from the opposition side, calling us "Commies and Illegals" of which I am neither.

Fuck what you heard IIIIII am American and proud with nuff military heritage in my bloodlines I need not be threatened by the names and accusations placed upon me by those of inferior mind.

I had an awesome march on May day in Union Square! I wanna thank my dear and my Leo for sharing it with me and all of people who came out to support human and immigrant rights! We da best! lol.

As you may or may not know I am originally from Phoenix, Arizona. I was born there and I lived there for the majority of my life and contrary to popular belief I LOVE IT THERE!! I came to New York for career opportunities in fashion not because I dislike my home. Recently the Governor of AZ signed a bill, SB 1070, into law that will make racial profiling by the police legal and encouraged.

When I found out this happened I freaked out! I was shaking an crying at my desk at the thought that now every time I go back to AZ I can be stopped an questioned if the cops suspect I am illegally in this country just because I am brown! When I think of how my brown friends and family, legal and non, will be treated it just made me sick. I still cannot believe that a law this shitty was passed in my own homestate! Arizona has always been a racist place and I know this from first hand experience but it is also a beautiful place full of life and culture that has helped make me the person I am.

For as long as this bill is a law and I have breath in my body I will do all that I can to oppose and protest it, even if I am in NYC! I will not surrender my home to racist pigs who believe "illegal immigrants" aka anyone but white people are to blame with all that is wrong with Arizona.

Tomorrow I will proudly march in protest of this law in a rally that aims to support the rights of all immigrants. I already know what I'm gonna put on my signs now I just gotta figure out what I want to wear! I can't wait!!

p.s. this post may not seem breif to you but this is only a fraction of how i feel about this subject but I'm only posting on my lunch since I still dont have interweb at home yet. *wamp*wamp*

Sadly when I woke up this morning I heard on twitter that Guru of Gangstarr had lost his battle with cancer. Back in the day my bff Serota and I would listen to Gangstarr nonstop in her volvo. It's been sometime since I have really let you know whats going on in my life. I almost don't know where to start. March, was madness for me darlings. So much so I wanted to put it bullet points so I don't waste time.

* I walked out of macys never to return their calls or as a part of their workforce

* One of my roommates started to get crazy and I started packing.

* No job + new found homelessness = hysteria well not really but close enough.

* Landed the perfect job for me but brooklyn life got crazier so pistol went to a safe house (my sisters house) in ct.

* New job has long hours but many paid jewish holidays which allowed me to move away from bk crazy house.

* Officially became the most glamorous homeless woman in all of NYC.

* Moved in with bf in the Bronx, cuddle time increases as does travel time to new job.

* Living out of a suitcase blows many goats. need for personal space at all time high.

* Love my new job but miss pistol desperately!

* Got fed up with craiglist scam emails, finally broke down an found a broker and a cute apt also in the Bronx.

* Waited and waited for a response on my potential dream apartment.

* I got the apartment! i rejoice! I still don't move in for another week! fudge.

* I move my bed an the rest of my thangs into my apartment and begin the full unpacking tonight.

* Reunite with miss pistol tomorrow in ct along with some cool stuff for my house courtesy of my sister. *crosses fingers*

holy crap that was a lot more bullet points than I thought there would be but seriously folks it has been a very trying time in my life and I'm so glad its over!

Nevertheless I have come out on top feeling like so many Ne-Yo songs! I feel like a real woman again. Living off of someone else is not something I am ever comfortable with. I have been taking care of myself for so long and I wouldn't have it any other way. I got my own. My own apartment, job, bills, wonderful dog and supportive bf. I am definitely feeling myself and my future right now. It's going to be a kick ass summer I can feel it.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention I won't have internet in the crib for another week so the posts will be slow comin if any but i think youre used to that now huh? lol. Love ya darlings. It's so nice to know you're always there for me :)

shopping and the blight of indecision

Would you believe that me, chandra..isgreat, cannot make up her mind when it comes to shopping?! It so true though. I have been shopping for shoes and jeans for I don't know how long. I have tried on like a million pairs of both and I have bought zero. Either I am the worlds toughest critic or I just can't make up my mind when I'm buyin something that's not vintage. I am a pretty tough critic in general but I really think its the latter. Recently I have been so concerned with spending my money wisely I just don't spend it at all. Which is smart right? Yes until I realize that all of my leggins have holes in the crotch and my jeans have many unfashionable rips. I don't even like distressed jeans! I find it pointless to buy things that already look semi trashed...but I digress. I thought that maybe if I started shopping more on the internet I wouldn't have this problem...EHHH! Wrong! It's worse now I just have 3-4 pages of full shopping carts that I refuse to close or finalize my purchases. I really dunno what my deal is, but I hope it clears up soon because as much as I love vintage clothes a bitch could really use some new shit! Gah!!

One day without shoes?!

No? You say you will never go a day without shoes? Going a whole day without shoes doesn't sound pretty kick ass to you?? Me either. It must really suck for all the people, especially kids, around the world who go everyday without shoes. :(

This TOMS campaign hit close to home for me because my own grandpa has regaled me with tales of his shoe-less youth. Those stories were fun and all but I really can't even imagine what it would be like to live without shoes. It makes me feel really petty that I am often found bitching about my many pairs of shoes. Since I live in NYC its pretty much out of the question that I go without shoes for the whole day, so I will only be going part of the day without my shoes and I will definitely be my office when I do. And when my coworkers ask me what the fudge is up I will be happy to inform them of the " one day without shoes" message.

If going a whole day without shoes sounds crappy to you to please spread the message and your toes and go shoeless for the cause, virtually or literally! You don't have to buy TOMS to help but if you do they will donate a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair purchased, which is a pretty sweet deal if you ask me.

Hoppy Easter Everybunny! I am just about to start cooking easter dinner for my darling. We are going to have ham, potato salad, stuffing, salad, rolls, ummm what else oh! deviled eggs of course and probably some other things that are slipping my mind right now but we will also have cake. I can't wait to eat because we spent the whole day walking around the bronx zoo and that junk is huge!

In othere news, I got a new job!!!! And so far I am completely in love with it. I forgot to tell you I quit macy's a couple of weeks ago.... Best impulse decision ever!! I started my new position as receptionist/ showroom assistant at Madison Brands, a Jr's woven's company today. It was hella cool, I'm really looking forward to learning all about the fashion industry at my new job! It just goes to show if you take a risk it could be well worth it! Keep the faith people. Next step: get a new apartment! Yay! Everything is falling into place!! Go 2010!!

Nothing is confirmed yet but there are tons of digital tongues wagging, including mine, as to what will happen with creative direction at french fashion house Chanel. Everyone is saying Alber Elbaz will replace Karl Lagerfeld and soon! Karl Largerfeld has said many times he will never retire but he can't go on forever! Plus I'm kind of getting sick of him. Don't get me wrong theres lots to love but this last collection I totally hated for the most part.

First I thought it was an overuse of real fur then when I found out it was faux fur I still couldn't shake my feelings of disgust. If the line continues down this path I'll be tempted to throw shade at them again and I don't wanna do that!Like most fashion lovers I have been programmed since my early days as a young magazine flipper to love Chanel.

I'm a big fan of what Alber Elbaz has done at Lanvin. Maybe he is the breath of fresh air that Chanel has been gasping for? They say the truth will be unveiled in the next two days or so and I for one am soooo curious as to what will happen with our dear Chanel.

Although our dear Alexander McQueen has been laid to rest a presentation of his last collection went on without him. It was said that light sobs were heard throughout while his last and possibly finest works were displayed. I cannot blame anyone for crying. While I aim to celebrate his work and life in this post when I first saw the photos, I felt more than one tear drop. Yesterday Yves St Laurent released a little teaser video for their Women's Fall/Winter 2010-2011

And today they released the actual show. Yay!!

Here are my key points from the show:

- sexy nun?? I'm feeling it

- I love the long belly touching chain and medallion, very friar-esque

- Religious, well Catholic inspiration is back, but sleek an sexy

- Full on friar dress at 4:13!

- Lets call it clergy chic

- mmmm yes so much black!!

- Love the sexy sheers at the end

- I just got murked by the purple sheer cape number at 6:44...I mean I'm totally dead now

- Woudlve love to see that blue shoe introduced earlier in the show,never the less in total love with the shoes

- I personally welcome the return of that floppy hat

- The feather neck ruff is swoon worthy

- Holy honey comb-ish cape at 9:30 batman!

Over all the YSL Women's Fall/Winter 2010-2011 collection is amazing! One of my favorites for the season so far. I mean its not very climate appropriate at all but I don't mind in this case because I have truly come to hate the winter.

Every cutie wit a booty bought a Coogi...and why? Well you can just blame it all on the Notorious BIG aka Biggie Smalls aka Christopher Wallace of Bedford Stuyvesant Brooklyn. Since today marks the 13th anniversary of his death and I now live in his home Burrough I felt it was high time I pay respect to the legend who is mostly recognized for his music but today will be honored for his style.

Biggies style went beyond ugly sweaters and regular hood attire(see photo below for an everyday hood look)he almost single handily brought back the three piece suit to hip hop culture.Poppa been smooth since days of Underroos.

If it wasn't for Biggie big dudes wouldn't know where to jack their swagger from. Every day I see dudes in NYC and especially Brooklyn in the winter time tryin to "Biggie" themselves down, ie turleneck sweater, loose jeans and Avirex or something like it bomber style jacket(as seen in the big poppa video)

I woke up early this morning to make sure I didn't miss any new live streams for Milan Fashion Week which is now in progress. Josephine Baker was widely know for her famous banana dance which is shown in the video above. While singing and dancing are what made her famous I remember her most for her style.

Do you see how tall that hair is? It's divine. It is obvious Beyonce has used Jospehine as a influence because that do' is too similar to her hair in the "upgrade you" video. Sheeit I'm thinking of borrowing that style myself..

In addition to Beyonce, Whitney Houston also paid homage to Josephine in her video for "I'm your baby tonight" where she dressed up in tux and tails similar to the photo above.

It is so painfully slow at my job these days, consequently I have plenty of time to think and the main thought I have is "maaaaaaan fuck this job" and I repeat it over and over in my head. Until finally I came to the conclusion. Man, FCUK this job freals! Meaning instead of working I should go dress up in my favorite French Connection outfits that I have passed on the floor. The Blizzard of 2010 on speed??

My darling Dgreat and I had to brave the first blizzard of 2010 after chillin in the house all day to go save my Pistol from loneliness. So we hoped in the ride and drove from the Bronx to Brooklyn in the middle of the storm. It was kinda scary to say the least! As we all know I do not mix well with snow and since I did not have my happiest face on I am not in the video very much.

If you will note at 3:14 we ran over a bigass piece of metal that was covered in snow. Thank god we didn't pop a tire, spin out of control and die!! God is so good for letting us make the whole drive with limited issues!! and also for providing us with pizza so close to my house. Lol. Little Cesar's never tasted so good!

Although there is no video proof rest assured Miss Pistol was just fine in the house and had been chilling with my roommates. All's well that ends well!

The news of Alexander Mcqueen's death this morning brought me to tears at work. Although I have never met him and don't own any of his pieces yet I will miss him deeply. I followed his career throughout my years in fashion school, only to become enamored with him over time. Many of you may not think you know of him but have definitely seen the video for Lady GaGa's "Bad Romance" or his iconic skull scarf on a celebrity or two.

The winter Olympics are coming! They will begin February 12th to be exact..I'm going to do my best to watch as much as possible, as long as its interesting of course. I love to root for the U.S.A. or whoever has the best looking uniform. Lol Ok that sounds a kind bad but I am much more of a clothes creep than a sports nut and we all know it.

It just so happens they are selling the Olympic uniforms at my job so I convinced one of my work darlings to come play photoshoot in the dressing room with me while I tried on what is left in stock . These uniforms are selling like hot cakes! I could only find two looks in my size! I guess Olympian chic is the look for February?

EooooW! Check out my sass! Much to my surprise the fit of these uniforms was amazing! Very slim and hella comfortable. I was so sure I was going to end up looking like someones mom, you know cause Ralph Lauren can be kinda dowdy for someone of my age..

This is where things started to get silly.. After all is said and done I actually wanted some of the pieces from this collection. Namely the sweatpants..*gasp* yeah I know! I don't wear or own sweatpants! but you know its cold outside so maybe its time and plus these were so cute and I don't recall any drawstring, which I like. Now if only they weren't so needlessly expensive, they would be mine...

That whole idea almost sounds like some kind of new Italian mullet but its not. It is what may happen next week as New York Fashion Week kicks off. The New York Times is reporting that many of the cast members of MTV's "Jersey Shore" have been asked to sit front row at many fashion shows. Personally I couldn't be more in love with this idea!

I do love Jersey Shore and its time I fessed up to it.I don't even have cable, I watched the show on mtv.com and became instantly obsessed!! I watched the whole season in 3 days in my time before and after work. I just couldn't get enough of the drinking and fights and even the budding romance of it all. Though I will say I'm not a big fan of Sammi because she is more bitch and sweetheart as she claims to be. J-wow and the rest of the dudes on the show I am just ok with. It is Snooki that I love!!! She's small and whiney and drunk! What is not to love?! I hope she gets into as many fashion shows as we wants.

Sure this will piss off many fashionable snobs who very openly covet front row seats because they don't feel the cast is deserving of them. Maybe they should take into consideration that there is always future seasons when they can take their precious front row seats back and the 15minutes of fame for the Jersey Shore cast will have surely faded and they will be ushered back to regular seats if they are invited at all. Today was my day off and I had no desire to go out into the windy cold so I decided why not spruce up some of the plain hats and gloves I bought on a recent H&M sale binge. I had already started sewing pearls on my white hat so I finished that first. I took a look through my bags of jewelry for more broken pieces since the pearls i was using were from a broken necklace as well. I was in a weird mood when I woke up and had been listening to RnB Balladas all morning so I turnt my Whitney Houston youtube's all the way up and got crackin.

This hat is the fruit of my cranky labor! I'm so pleased with the outcome! It kinda reminds me of a cherry blossom.The petals are from an old necklace that i never got to wear even once because it got tangled up and broke before i got to enjoy it.

Pistol was by my side or in my lap the whole time acting as moral support. I have some idea for the gloves I got but I wanted to post the hat pics now while I'm still on a roll.

baby's first nor'easter

I'm not a baby. This is not the first time I have seen snow. However this is the first time I have been thoroughly freaked out and discomforted by snow. The power went out in my apartment in the middle of the storm and mind you the heat also does not work. I rely on my space heater to keep me from freezing at night and with out it I was forced to seek refuge at a friends house.

In the morning the dog and I had to brave the subway and the streets that were full of snow to get home.

Look at her poor little face! She was startled too. She looked really cute in her sweater though. I know a sweater is not enough for the snow but you should see the way she hates her coat!

I should have gone in an got some hot chocolate but I just wanted to get my ass back to my house to see if the electricity was back on. Apparently they called an electrician in the middle of the night and now all is well with the fuses and what not in the basement. Thank god! I need heat and internet to live. I'm so glad all that got cleared up quickly. Now I can go back to staring at the snow from the comfort of my window, after getting caught in knee high snow drifts I no longer wish to touch it.

I guess I'm going to have a white christmas for the first time ever? I don't have a christmas tree or a stocking this year since I have no space or extra money. Next year though it is going dooown! Lucky me!! I was invited to the opening night performance and gala for the Alvin Ailey dance theater. If you don't know how awesome Ailey is I highly suggest you get to googlin'. I didn't get a chance to introduce myself because I saw him as we were walking out but please believe I squeezed out a "HI ANDRE!" before i passed by. I surprised him a little i think but I'm sorry..I had to.

Surprisingly enough I didn't take any pics of my food! I know! How weird of me not to.. I guess I was just too busy having a really great time. My black friday

I had to be at work at 4:45 am on black friday. A.M. People!! That's the morning..and yet it was still so very dark outside. I couldn't believe that I really had to be there that early so I recorded my walk into work.

Black friday was such a long day..omg..People were running and grabbing, some people even brought babies with them? It was kinda hilarious and crazy at times. Who knew people took coupons so damn seriously? Word to the wise, read the damn fine print before you come up to me with attitude h'okay? lol. Anyway i'm so glad its over!! That shit made me sick, literally! I've been in bed since Saturday and its boring here. I'm ready to go shopping for myself....

Bet when you were watching the parade on thanksgiving you didn't know you were watching the building that I spend an unfortunate number of hours in every week....I kid, I kid. My job is not that bad! I get to style people everyday and now my work is roaming the streets of New York and all around the world on tourists. I can't front on that.

My heart was smashed and even after the shock wore off I still didn't feel like writing or posting pictures. I am currently on my way back to new york from connecticut where I spent thanksgiving day. I had an awesome time seeing my family and reuniting with a homie I haven't seen in years. We laughed and ate all day long. Please believe ya girl has two to-go plates on the train right now.

In November, I have gone from tears of pain to tears of joy and gratitude. I have too many blessings to count and so much to be thankful for. Since I can't list everything, I just want to say thanks to all my friends past and present, followers on twitter, and supporters in general. If you're reading this..Thanks so much for paying attention darling <3 If it weren't for you guys I would just be talking to myself. I was lookin through the pics on my cell and I came across a couple of shots of a bedroom set I had seen when I first moved to ny. As you can see this no normal bed set! Its so pretty! It is my dream bed and it was right here in brooklyn just waiting for me to walk into the furniture store. I wish I had the cash for that set!! Omg..it still breaks my heart a lil bit even though I know full well that all those peices wouldn't fit in my current room. Call me crazy...I got it bad for that bed!!!!

I made an alter for Dia de los Muertos. It is not as glitzy as other alters I've made in the past, especially since this year there was no actual glitter used, but what it lacks in razzle dazzle it makes up for in heart. I have much less space for my alter this year so I made it to fit in my window sill. I don't have pictures of many of loved ones who have passed but i wanted to make them tiny RIP tshirts to honor them anyways. I hooked everyone up, from my Granny to Michael Jackson. If you will note the smaller shirts on the bottom, I even made em for the babies. I poured and smoked some for my fallen homies and tried not to get too emo when thinkin of the young ones who were gone too soon. It was great to feel connected with them again...RIP familia, homies and MJ <3 <3 <3

Costume Test Drive

Last night I was too tired and grumpy to go out so I took my costume on a test drive and it completely cheered me up, but I suppose thats what being Minnie Mouse will for halloween will do to you. Who can be mad and Minnie Mouse at the same time?! Not me, if you will note the power of Minnie is so strong I'm dancing around by the end of the video. Lol. I'm going to the NYC Halloween Parade tonight! Happy Hollerween yalls!!

Wee its halloween time!! I got to carve a pumpkin and I did my darndest...Can you tell what it is? I tried to carve pistol! See it? yeaaah you see it!

In other news I had a hilarious conversation with my darling Amonee the other day about song that used to scare us when we were little and when she told me that Luniz - I got five on it, used to scare her, I damn near fell off the couch laughing. It's ok though Mista Grimm - Indo Smoke used to creep me the hell out when I was little. After I calmed down I put together this playlist of some scaredy beats, songs from horror movies that personally freaked me out and some hiphop with weirdo beats and or messages. Listen to this to get into the halloween spirit and especially while you get ready to go out tomorrow.

feelin good on a rainy day

It may be rainy outside in Brooklyn today but I'm all sunshine here in my apartment. I had a great weekend doin CMJ'y type things that I will post pics of later. I have some thangs to take care of today, give the dog a bath, do my hair and nails, style my outfits for the next week of work including jewelry and meet a client at bloomies. All of my responsibilities make me feel good...free to feel good!!! lol. I'ma go back in time and jack Rozalla for that sparkly bollero jacket she has on in this video. Ok Ok Ok...not jack, just borrow. <3

I swore off skulls for awhile after seeing them available on everything. However after receiving a very special birthday gift from my bestie, serota, I am proudly back in the skull game.
